Youtheary Sim's dedication to strengthening communities began in Hillsboro, Oregon, where her passion for service took root during her youth. As Student Body President at Century High School and the 2003 Oregon Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year, she earned a full-tuition scholarship to Oregon State University, marking the start of her journey in leadership and advocacy. After successfully launching a globally recognized clothing brand with over 150 retail placements, Youtheary’s focus on community development only deepened.
With over 20 years of experience spanning public involvement, community engagement, fundraising, mission advocacy, non-profit development, and organizational culture, Youtheary has built a solid foundation in advocacy and support for community growth. Her entrepreneurial background shaped her approach to collaboration and resourceful problem-solving, with a focus on amplifying underrepresented voices and equipping individuals with tools to drive positive change.
Youtheary’s career highlights include serving as Special Events Chair for the National Urban League, where she led nationwide fundraising initiatives for Young Professionals Chapters, and as Women and Children’s Director at Union Gospel Mission in Portland. In this role, she contributed to the planning of a 57,000-square-foot residential building designed to support women and children recovering from homelessness, addiction, and domestic violence. Currently, she serves on the Juvenile Crime Prevention and Advisory Committee (JCPAC) at the request of the Washington County Juvenile Department, offering guidance on juvenile justice issues.
Youtheary brings a mission-driven perspective, extensive expertise, and unwavering commitment to community service to her current work with Northwest Collaborative. She remains a passionate advocate for equitable opportunities, informed decision-making, and lasting community impact.
